LEEDS — Reynald J. Lefebvre, 77, a resident of Leeds, passed away Monday, March 26, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 25, 1940, in Rumford, the son of Rene and Lucille (Gauthier) Lefebvre.

Reynald was raised in Mexico and attended St. Theresa’s Catholic School and Mexico High School. Deciding shoe shops were not his future, Reynald left home Dec. 19, 1957, at age 17, and joined the U.S. Navy, where he completed his high school education. He then completed courses in Basic Hospital Corps School and EENT training, which provided him gainful employment for years to come.

When discharged from the Navy in the fall of 1961, he met his future wife, Lois J. Bisbee, on a blind date. They were married a year later on Oct. 13, 1962. They lived for a while in Lewiston, then bought a house in New Auburn and raised their three children. When the children had grown, they moved to Leeds (to the country). Reynald worked for 20-some years at St. Mary’s Hospital, then changed professions and became a licensed substance-abuse counselor.

He was a vital part of the opening of the Halfway House in New Auburn; from there he went to Tri-County Mental Health Services, where he was a clinical supervisor for the substance-abuse department. Upon retirement, he passed the time gardening and fly-fishing, but most of all he loved puttering around in his woodworking shop, creating Intarsia art.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Lefebvre; his sons, Renald and Victor Lefebvre, all of Leeds; his daughter, Raedelle Knight, and her husband, Willie, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Zachary Lefebvre, Lorna Knight and Renald Lefebvre.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Vivian Plante and Beatrice Roy.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for allowing Reynald to be in the comfort of his own home for his last days.
