AUGUSTA — Jacqueline L. Hodgkins, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 31.
She was born in Chelsea on June 6, 1938, daughter of Joseph and Jeannette (Marois) Lapointe. Jackie attended elementary school in Chelsea and was a 1957 graduate of Cony High School in Augusta.
She worked at the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. in Augusta, the Southern Bell Telephone Company in Miami, Fla., and W.T. Grant in Augusta. Jackie married Clyde Hodgkins of Greene on Aug. 19, 1967.
She then worked as a bookkeeper in their businesses, Auburn Metal Buildings Co. and Hodgkins and Buker Land Surveyors.
Jackie enjoyed antiquing and spending time at her camp on the lake. She was a former communicant of St. Francis Mission in Greene. She and her husband spent winters in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she lived after Clyde’s passing.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Lynne Solomon and her husband, Alan Baer; her son, Joseph Hodgkins, and his wife, Leisa; her brother, Kenneth Lapointe, and his wife, Jeannine; her seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her two sisters, Jeannine and Joan; her two brothers, Norman and his wife, Jo Anne, and Romeo and his wife, Patricia; and her stepmother, Marguerite.
