LISBON FALLS — Beatrice A. Strout, 87, of Lisbon Falls, passed away at home Sunday, April 1, Easter Sunday, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Monson on May 19, 1930, a daughter of the late J. Albert and Ardena (Haggstrom) Olson. She attended the Monson Community Church and schools in Monson, graduating from Monson Academy in 1947.
On June 2, 1950, in Madison, she married the love of her life, Sherwood Strout, her husband of 52 years. They lived in Brunswick for a time before moving to the Lisbon area in 1955.
She attended the Lisbon Falls Baptist Church and Methodist Church in Lisbon where she taught Sunday School.
Bea was a devoted mother to their five children. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and welcoming and holding her great-grandchildren.
During her life she loved cooking and baking, caring for her plants and flowers, walking, dancing and music. She especially loved traveling with her husband.
Bea was known to all as a thoughtful and caring person. She was always remembering others by sending special cards and showing acts of kindness throughout her life. Her lasting legacy is one of caregiving, unselfishness and compassion for those in need.
Beatrice is survived by four children, Sheila Swenson and husband, Arthur, of Loudon, N.H., Sandra Boisvert and husband, David, of Chambersburgh, Pa., Robert Strout and wife, Aline, of Lisbon Falls, and Ronald Strout of Lisbon Falls; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a cousin; and her best friend for over 80 years, Iris Freeman, of Bangor.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Sherwood Strout, in 2002; a son, Michael Strout, in 1975; brothers, Russell and Lester Olson; and a sister, Margaret Strout.
