AUBURN — Roland Yvon Belanger, 77, of Lewiston, passed away Friday, March 30, at the Hospice House in Auburn, with his family by his side. He fought a long, courageous battle with pulmonary disease.

Born in Lewiston on May 4, 1940, to Yvon and Adrienne (Arsenault) Belanger, he was a student at Holy Family, St. Mary’s, Lincoln and Walton schools, then joined the Air Force (1957-1961). He married his childhood sweetheart, Lucille Rioux, in 1962. As a self-made businessman, taking ownership of Nel’s Variety and 2-in-1 Taxi Co. proved to be his two most successful endeavors.

He had a passion for youth sports and enjoyed his time as a fly-football league assistant coach for the Jets (1976-1978). Pepere was the ever-present “No.1 Fan” and videographer for all of his grandsons’ sporting and school events. He loved fishing, camping, playing the harmonica and spoons, and — above all — making memories with family and close friends. He epitomized what unconditional love is for all who knew him!

His memories will be held close by his three daughters and their husbands, Donna and Jeff Neagle, of Lisbon Falls, Diane and Robert Morin, of Poland, and Cindy and McArthur Wallace, of Denton, Texas. Roland was recently blessed with the knowledge that he had a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Pamela Snowe, of Shapleigh. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Joshua Neagle, Kyle Neagle and fiancé, Britani Seeman, Nathan Morin USN, Dustin Morin, Alexandra (Snowe) Buckley and Caroline Snowe. He also leaves behind his brother, Roger Belanger, and sister-in-law, Lorraine, and sister-in-law, Lauren Belanger.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Lucille; his parents; and younger brother, Alfred Belanger. He will be missed by Gerard Bilodeau, and friends from Meadowview apartments; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and the Hospice House teams were like angels on Earth for him. The Belanger family is truly grateful for their care and guidance.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories and offer their condolences by visiting Roland’s online guest book at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
