Who’s the owner of the 18 sugar barrels and six cases of “booze” seized at the Lower Maine Central railroad station by Deputy Luce on Thursday night? The liquor was not billed to anyone in Lewiston but arrived from from Boston by freight. There were no marks of identification, either that the stuff was liquor or that it was intended for anyone in Lewiston. Deputy Luce, who was one of the liquor squad appointed by the Governor seized it, and on Friday it was stated that the officers had no information. The liquor is estimated at the present market value as worth $9,000.

The search began in earnest. At 9:08 the mother called back and said all was well. Sorry, she said. She just didn’t think of looking in the backyard. There he was, playing to his heart’s content.
