LEWISTON — Police recovered a handgun from beneath a porch Friday afternoon after chasing a suspect accused of threatening a man with a gun on Ash Street.
The suspect got away in the 4 p.m. chase, but police Officer Nick Meserve spotted the man tossing a gun as he fled. The weapon was found minutes later beneath a porch on Howe Street and taken as evidence.
Police had been called to the area of Ash and Shawmut streets for a report of a man with a gun chasing another man in the street. Neither man had been found later in the day.
