AUBURN — Roger C. Lachance, 86, of Broad St., Auburn, died after a long illness, Wednesday, April 11, with his loving family at his side. He passed away in the family home where he was born on Nov. 15, 1931, a son of the late Cleophas and Eva (Boisvert) Lachance. He was educated in Auburn.

Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. In his younger years, he lived in California and Connecticut, but moved back to Maine and settled in his family’s home. He was a house painter for many years. He was known for his excellent and hard work ethic.

Before his illness, Roger enjoyed painting pictures and gardening plants and flowers. He often found old furniture pieces, which he liked to refurbish. Even though he didn’t spend as much time as he would have liked with his children due to the fact they were in California, they always knew he loved them and how much family meant to him.

He is survived by his four children, Debra Rey and her companion, Sabial Salim, of CA, Jan Lachance of CA, Jim Lachance of CA, and Ruth Simpson of CA; two sisters, Maggie Landry and Sister Jeanne d’arc Lachance, of Canada; six grandchildren, Chrystal, Chad, Ryan, Amber, Cody and Ashley; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Norman, Richard, Robert and Marcel Lachance; and four sisters, Madeline Turcotte, Theresa Le Compte, Claudette Carbonneau and Claire Lachance.
