INDUSTRY — A Fairfield man was arrested early Thursday when a deputy responded to a report of a disturbance on Time Square Road.

A person reported at about 12:24 a.m. that Mitchel MacArthur was in his driveway threatening him and refusing to leave, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. wrote in an email.

“It was alleged that a girlfriend of MacArthur was at the residence of the complainant,” Nichols wrote. “However, investigation revealed that the girlfriend had left MacArthur and he was now stalking her and had followed her to the Industry residence.”

MacArthur, 28, of Fairfield was arrested on a charge of domestic violence stalking. He was taken to Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington and was released on $500 cash bail Thursday morning.

A conviction on a stalking charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
