POLAND — Ally Gagne went the distance, struck out 10 and allowed no hits as Poland defeated Yarmouth 6-0 in a WMC softball contest Tuesday.

Morgan Brousseau and Shelby LaFrinea each had a pair of singles to lead the Knights (4-2). Danielle Carr had a two -run single in the bottom of the second that scored Brousseau and LaFrinea. Carr added another RBI in the fifth on a fielder’s choice.

Amanda’lyn Gagne had a two run single in the fourth.

Ceanne Lyon struck out seven Poland batters for Yarmouth.

Messalonskee 4, Edward Little 2

OAKLAND — Messalonskee jumped on Edward Little’s mistakes in the first inning en route to a 4-2 victory in a KVAC softball game Tuesday.

After Emmy Lashua scored on a wild pitch for the Red Eddies in the top of the first, the Eagles responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Alyssa Genness and Taylor Baker both reached on walks and scored on errors. Makayla Wilson reached on an error and scored on a single by Sarah Labbe.

Kaitlyn Douglass scored in the second to make it 4-1 Messalonskee on an RBI single by Baker. Baker had two hits while Labbe led the Eagles with three including a double.

Lashua scored in the top of the seventh on an error for EL. She initially got on base with a double, her third hit of the afternoon.

Oxford Hills 12, Brunswick 0

PARIS — Lauren N. Merrill had a double and a single to pace Oxford Hills’ offense in a 12-0 victory over Brunswick in a KVAC softball contest Tuesday.

Kenzie Kahkonen also belted a home run for the Vikings (3-1). Kaisa Heikkinen also had a double and a single. Madison Starbird and Haley Dillingham each had two singles.

Tiera Bernier had the lone hit for the Dragons (0-4).

Baseball

Edward Little 14, Messalonskee 3

WATERVILLE — Grant Hartley was a triple away from a cycle to help lead Edward Little past Messalonskee 14-3 in a KVAC baseball action at Thomas College on Tuesday.

Hartley had a two-run homer in the sixth and had four runs batted in for the game. He also had two doubles and a single. Maxx Bell also had two doubles. Jake Arel had three hits and four RBIs.

Austin Brown, Ethan Brown and Nick Hathaway each had a pair singles for the Red Eddies (6-0). Ethan Brown and Hathaway scored three runs each.

Percy Carey had two of Messalonskee’s (3-2) four hits.

Lisbon 5, Dirigo 4

LISBON — Sean Scott drove home two runs in the bottom of the seventh as Lisbon defeated Dirigo 5-4 in an MVC baseball contest Tuesday.

The Greyhounds (3-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning. The Cougars (2-2) started to chip away at the lead starting in the fourth with one run, adding another in the fifth and adding two in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead.

Cole Bolduc went 2-for-3 for the Greyhounds with a RBI in the first.

Cam Turner had two hits and a RBI for the Cougars while Dallas Berry had a double.

Oxford Hills 4, Brunswick 3

PARIS — Emery Chickering drove home Janek Luksza in the bottom of the fifth with the game-winning run as Oxford Hills defeated Brunswick 4-3 in a KVAC baseball game Tuesday.

The Vikings scored twice in the first and once in the second.

Sam Sharpe had a double in the first for Brunswick and later scored. Noah Goddard had a RBI double in the second for the Dragons.

Ashton Kennison had a double for the Vikings (5-0).

Scout Masse had a pair of hits for Brunswick (2-3).

Boys’ lacrosse

Oak Hill 13, Oxford Hils 5

Xavier Michaud had eight goals and two assists to lead Oak Hill to a 13-5 victory over Oxford Hills in boys’ lacrosse action.

Noah Moring had three goals and three assists while Gabe Samson also had a goal.

Thomas Bancroft led the Vikings with two goals while Jacob Lang and Devin Dumais also had goals.
