DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m writing to you as a part of a class project for the novel “The Watsons Go to Birmingham.” My classmates and I are contacting local newspapers across the country in a state we chose to learn more about. I want to learn more about Maine. I have only been to the East Coast, including Maine, one time. While my family and I were there, we stayed in Winter Harbor and visited Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We traveled to the top of Cadillac Mountain, and on the ferry over to Isle au Haut. I can officially say that I have been to all three parts of Acadia National Park.

I am writing to ask your readers to please write back and tell me why they like Maine, interesting facts about the state, and what are some of the things that people can do there. They can write to me at my school’s address: Brady Ornat, Queen of Peace Catholic School, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544. If they could include a copy of the newspaper where they saw my letter, I’d greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions, please e-mail my teacher at aweisser@queenofpeace.cc or you may contact her by phone at 574-255-0392, ext. 123.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

—Brady, Mishawaka, Indiana

ANSWER: I love these letters from students and I hope you all will take a few moments out of your busy day to write to these children as requested. Many moons ago, I wrote a letter like this one to a local newspaper in Iowa. I was 9 years old. I received many letters in return that were chock full of information. One letter was from another fourth-grader. We corresponded until we were in our 20s and started families of our own.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Danville Junction Grange is on its new foundation, but before we can get back in business, there are many little projects that need to be completed. This renovation project has taken much longer than we expected and was more costly than anticipated as we experienced unexpected problems along the way. We’re asking the community to come to our aid.

Many people have attended our monthly bean suppers, played Bingo, bought our homemade chicken pies, or come to other functions. They know what a busy and fun grange we have been! Throughout the year, we carry on many community service projects. Last year at the state session, we won second prize for our community service and we’re on the National Register of Historic Places.

Please help with a tax-deductible donation to: Maine State Grange Foundation, 146 State St., Augusta, ME 04330. Make a note identifying Danville Junction Grange 65. You can also send a check to Treasurer Barbara Hardison, 209 Hickory Drive, Auburn, ME 04210. Make check out to Danville Junction Grange No. 65. This would not be tax deductible. You can also donate at https://www.gofundme.com/danvillejunctiongrange65.

Members of Danville Junction Grange thank those in the community for their help. No donation is too small, and it will be much appreciated. Thanks! Thank you so very much for the wonderful service that you provide for our community. You are truly amazing!
