AUBURN — Clifford Ray Griffin Sr., 74, of Auburn, quietly passed away Saturday, April 28, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by his wife of 48 years, children and loved ones.

He was born in Portland, Sept. 17, 1943, son of the late Dwinal Cole Griffin Sr. and Terena Elizabeth Dyer. He grew up in the Portland and Casco Bay area, namely Cliff Island in Casco Bay. He was a lobsterman and commercial fisherman by trade.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mildred H. Griffin; four children, Robert N. LaGrange Jr. and his close friend, Laurel Merchant, William E. LaGrange and fiancee, Laurie L. Flanders, Clifford Griffin Jr. and his wife, Sandi Martin-Griffin, and Wanda L. Griffin and fiance, Ernest R. Cash. He is also survived by two brothers, Alan Griffin and wife, Lucille, and Theodore (Teddy) Griffin and his wife, Lucinda; as well as 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Clifford was predeceased by three brothers, Stephen Griffin, David Griffin and Dwinal Griffin; and three sisters, Terena Clark-Griffin, Marjorie Griffin and Carolyn Whitney-Griffin.

Clifford will forever be missed; he was a father of four but a dad to many.
