NEW GLOUCESTER — Voters at Saturday’s annual town meeting will decide on buying a plow truck, building a second exit for the library and improving tennis courts.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial School, with voter registration at 6:30 p.m.
Among the spending proposals are purchasing self-contained breathing apparatus for the Fire Department, construction of a second exit for the New Gloucester Public Library, buying a dump/plow truck and making improvements to the Rowe Station tennis courts.
Voters will be asked to amend guidelines for property foreclosures.
The $4.02 million municipal budget, if approved, would increase local taxes 3 percent from this fiscal year, which ends June 30.
“Two areas of increases to note are capital projects and debt service,” Town Manager Carrie Castonguay wrote in the town budget book. They account for the majority of overall increase, she wrote.
“We anticipate a 4.5 percent increase in county tax and historical data indicates an approximately 5 percent increase in school appropriation,” Castonguay wrote.
