AUBURN — Bertrand L. Provencher, 91, died Wednesday, May 2, at the Androscoggin Hospice House with his family by his side. Born in Lewiston on March 10, 1927, a son of Edmund & Rose Fillion Provencher, he was educated in Lewiston & Auburn schools.

He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was married to the former Gabrielle Cote who died April 23, 2014.

Mr. Provencher was a member of The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 153 of New Auburn.

He worked at Knapp Shoe for 25 years and retired from Bath Iron Works after 15 years of service prior to his retirement. He will be remembered for boat rides and crab bakes at camp.

He is survived by his caregivers, nieces, Therese Bureau and Sherry Morneau of Auburn, Lori Bolduc of Lewiston. Nieces and nephews, Ronald Goulet of N. Leeds, Robert Goulet, Orrington, Doris Auger of Wales, Donna St. Pierre, Auburn and Gary Asselin of Auburn.
