Maine’s June 12 primary election will be here before we know it. I hope Maine has a strong turnout at the polls this year because there has never been a more important time to make residents’ voices heard.

An important feature of the Maine primary election is that voters will be using ranked-choice voting for the first time. I’m sure a lot of voters have questions about this new system. What is great is that Maine’s Secretary of State, Matthew Dunlap, is holding forums around Maine to help voters understand ranked-choice voting and get their questions answered.

Voters may meet with Secretary Dunlap from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the Lewiston Public Library and learn all about ranked-choice voting in person.
