LEWISTON — Burglars broke into two car dealerships this week, apparently seeking inspections stickers, police said.

Workers discovered the missing stickers Tuesday morning at Clavet Import Auto Sales & Service at 1103 Main St. and Dube’s Auto Sales at 960 Main St.

Police believe the burglaries likely were committed by the same person or people.

Each business has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects, Lt. David St. Pierre wrote in a news release Wednesday.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area or who may have any information concerning the identity of the person(s) involved to contact Detective Crystal LaChance at 207-513- 3001, ext. 3310, or the watch commander at 207-513- 3001, ext. 3324, St. Pierre wrote. Information also may be provided on the department’s Facebook page.
