FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Animal Shelter has announced the Pets of the Week.

Khai, 3 years old, is a male American Pit Bull. Staff said he is a very smart, very loving boy who would love to find his perfect person. He seems good with cats, and he would first like to meet the dog in his forever home. Staff said he is slightly shy when he first meets new people (especially men), but once he gets to know people, he bonds quickly.

Staff said he know basic commands like “sit,” “down” and “paw,” and he takes his reward treats very gently. They said Khai is very attentive when learning new tricks, and he has been doing really well on learning his leash manners.

Sage is a 4- to 6-year-old female longhaired cat. Staff said she is a sweet and beautiful girl who would love to curl up in a lap in her furever home.

Sage, Khai and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
