LEWISTON — William “Bill” Knox, 87, of Auburn died Wednesday, May 9, at Russell Park after a long illness.

He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on May 24, 1930, the son of Jessie and Walter Knox. He served in the British Air Force during WWII.

He married Margaret Scott in 1958, and immigrated to Chicago in 1963. He retired from the United States Post Office in 1994. He moved to Maine in 2002 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

He is survived by two children: his daughter, Joyce Thibodeau, and husband, Alexander, of Turner, and son, Alan, and wife, Vicky, of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Matthew and Emily; and one brother, George, of Edinburgh, Scotland.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and by his sister, Margaret.

Bill’s children would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Montello Heights and Schooner Estates, for his care during his last eight years. In addition, sincere thanks to the nurses at CMMC-M1 for the loving care shown to him in his final days.
