LEWISTON — Pauline (Saindon) Caron, 91 years young, of Auburn peacefully passed away following a brief illness Wednesday, May 9, at CMMC in Lewiston. She was born in Auburn on Aug. 15, 1926, the only child to the late Willie and Anna (Thibault) Saindon. She grew up in the Auburn area and attended local schools.

On July 6, 1946, she married the love of her life, Donald C. Caron, at St. Louis Church in Auburn. For 72 years the two of them were inseparable and were each other’s soulmates.

For over 35 years, Pauline worked in the shoe and housekeeping industry for Shapiro Shoe and Marcotte Home. She was a devoted member of St. Louis Church in Auburn for many years, as well as a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was well-loved by many family and friends, and she loved all of her nieces and nephews dearly. Pauline was very proud and also very organized. Housekeeping was her passion and it gave her much purpose. It was “who she was” and she was extremely proud of it, both at home and in her career at Marcotte Home.

Her home was always beautifully decorated for all of the holidays, from Valentine’s Day to St. Patrick’s, and all through the year to Christmas and New Year’s. Many family members would always receive cards for all of their special occasions throughout the year. She never forgot a date! Her memory of remembering people and names, whether they were family or friend or someone who she and Don had met on one of their many vacationing trips was truly amazing. She had a memory like no one else and she has touched numerous lives. She will be sadly missed by many.

She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Don C. Caron, of Auburn; her sister-in-law, Fernande Caron, of Eagle River, Ark.; sisters and brothers-in-law Lorraine and Gerard Obie of Lisbon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law Sylvio, Alice and Ruth Caron, Henry and Julie Dargie, Robert and Lucille Caron and Gerard Caron.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the first responders and the CMMC emergency room and palliative care teams, particularly Sara Caron, Pauline’s grandniece, for their professional and courteous compassion shown to Pauline when she was taken into their care.

Condolences may be shared with Pauline’s family at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
