TURNER — Daniel M.L. Chabot, 68, passed away Friday, May 11, in Turner. He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 12, 1949, the son of the late Mozart and Susie (Gray) Chabot.
Daniel was a 1967 graduate of Lewiston High School and following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on multiple aircraft carriers, including the USS John F. Kennedy, as an aviation mechanic. His proud service to our country totaled over nine years with in-region experience in Vietnam.
Following his honorable discharge, Dan returned home to Maine and worked locally for 35 years. His career included jobs with Cantin Chevrolet, Bath Iron Works, U.S. Postal Service, Cole Haan Corporate Offices and Lowe’s.
Dan was an avid outdoorsman and tinkerer. His passions included hunting, fishing, gunsmithing and knife-making. For a short period of time he volunteered with the local fire and rescue departments and was the animal control officer for the Turner area. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Angela; his daughter, Melanie Chabot, and fiance, Brian Wark; his four sisters, Katherine Giasson and husband Ronald, Cheryl Duval, Elizabeth White and Beverly Grenier and husband, James; and one brother, Joseph; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Randolph S. Chabot, gunnery sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps; sister, Amanda Nelson; and brother-in-law, Conrad Duval.
