AUBURN — On April 24, 2018, a tragic accident claimed the life of Valerio Domenico Orin McFarland of Auburn.

Valerio was born March 19, 2013, in Portland, to Jason McFarland and Helena Gagliano-McFarland. Valerio was a handsome, loving and intelligent 5-year-old with a wonderful sense of humor. Valerio loved cuddling with his mama, helping his papa bake sweets in the kitchen and playing with his older siblings Maxim and Giada. He also loved dinosaurs and could even remember their difficult and long names.

He also enjoyed learning about Jehovah God and going to the Kingdom Hall. His family is comforted by the Bible’s promise of a future resurrection when Valerio will be reunited with them again. “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” — Isaiah 25:8.

He is survived by his parents; his siblings; his maternal grandparents, Marisa and Antonino Gagliano; his paternal grandmother, Dorene McFarland; his maternal uncles Domenico and Daniel Gagliano; his paternal uncles Shawn and Ryan McFarland; and his paternal aunt, Jenna McFarland.

He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Richard McFarland.

Valerio will be deeply and sorely missed by his family and all who knew him.
