Mass shootings are on the rise. People are dying and suffering grave loss due to gun violence. And yet, U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin supports the Second Amendment and the NRA. Since taking office, Poliquin has received more than $200,000 in funding from the NRA. So, who is he really accountable to, his constituents or the NRA?

As a college student living in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, I care strongly about the safety of my community and all of its residents and visitors. With such a great sum of Poliquin’s campaign funds being tied to the priorities of the NRA, can we really believe that he has our best interests at heart?
