LIVERMORE — A portable toilet that was vandalized three weeks in a row has been removed from the Round Pond boat launch off Route 4, Administrative Assistant Amy Byron said Tuesday.

It will not be replaced for Memorial Day.

Obscenities were spray-painted on the structure and there was trash filling the toilet and around the outside, she said.

“A few disrespectful people ruin it for responsible people,” Byron said.

The company that rents the toilet to the town found it vandalized each time it was serviced.

Byron turned the matter over to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, which owns the boat launch property.

The launch opened in 2003. The town and the department joined together on the project, with Livermore agreeing to maintain the area.

The Maine Warden Service was notified of the vandalism, according to Diano Circo, director of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife water access program.
