BUCKFIELD — Buckfield mounted a come-from-behind win, rallying for seven runs in the late innings to take an 8-7 victory over Sacopee Valley in softball action Saturday afternoon.
With the Bucks trailing 5-1 after four and a half innings, Cara Merrill led off the bottom of the fifth with at triple. Before there were three outs, Buckfield managed to tie the game at 5-5.
Julia Dow earned the win for Buckfield by scoring Molly Bourget on a single.
Riley Vacchiano and Gabby Martin had three singles each as the Hawks outhit the Bucks 13-7. Sacopee Valley, though, couldn’t turn enough of those hits into runs.
Baseball
Winthrop 13, Mt. Abram 2
WINTHROP — Morgan Bellemare collected three hits, including a home run, as Winthrop cruised to a 13-2 victory over Mt. Abram in baseball action Friday.
The Ramblers (9-6) went on a seven-run tear in the bottom of the fifth inning. Colby Emery and Cameron Gaghan contributed a pair of singles each for Winthrop.
The Roadrunners (6-9) had eight hits and scored runs in the second and third innings in the losing effort.
