RUMFORD — Robert D. “Opa” Wilson, 84, passed away Sunday, May 27, at the Rumford Hospital. He was born in Cape Elizabeth on Oct. 16, 1933, a son of Grace Evelyn Foss and Richard Russell Wilson. Robert was a retired Army veteran, serving 23 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Westbrook College. He was also a member of King Hiram Lodge, Masons; Mt. Zircon # 142, OES; VFW; American Legion and Disabled Veterans.
Robert was predeceased by the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Smith Wilson; his parents; sister, Barbara Caswell; brothers Richard and Duffy Wilson, and also Richard Curit.
He is survived by his daughters M Mike Wilson, Stefanie Wilson and sons Steven, Neale and Brett Wilson; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, with a very special bond between his grandchildren Jenna and Matt Rocque, Ashley and Steve Dyer and Brecke Monaghan, and also grandchildren Azra Dyer, Hunter and Chase Rocque, and several siblings.
He will be missed by all. The family would like to thank Med-Care, Rumford police and the Rumford Hospital for the care and compassion they showed.
