Municipal officials have a tough job, made harder through the past several years because of reductions in revenue sharing. Maine’s economic future and the health of its communities depends on finding more common ground and seeking collaboration, not mindless partisanship.

I came to know Janet Mills in 1980 when she was elected district attorney for Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties. At the time, I was serving as captain of detectives on the Lewiston Police Department. We worked closely on serious cases that she prosecuted and was an outstanding advocate for victims and their families.

Her service in the Legislature and knowledge of state government makes her uniquely positioned to get Maine moving in the right direction again for the benefit of all of the communities in this state.

As former mayor of Lewiston, I am proud to support Attorney General Janet Mills in the June 12 Democratic primary.
