HARPSWELL — A Massachusetts man died Saturday from injuries after falling 25 feet off a ledge Friday evening.
John Bernadi, 62, of Sherborn, Mass., was visiting friends at 118 Brick Yard Cove Road in Harpswell when he slipped and fell off a ledge about 7:45 p.m. He struck his head on a rock before landing in the water, according to a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office release.
Friends of Bernadi witnessed the fall and provided emergency first aid and CPR when they discovered he was not breathing. Their efforts got him breathing again. Cundy’s Harbor Rescue transported Bernadi to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening head injuries. He died Saturday morning.
Bernadi’s family was notified and traveled to Maine Medical Center from Massachusetts.
Officials said the incident appears to be an accident.
