BAR HARBOR — Police are asking for the public’s help in investigating the death of a woman whose body was found about noon Sunday at Route 3 and West Street, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

A state police K9 made the discovery, he said.

The body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for an autopsy and identification. Bar Harbor Police and Fire Departments, along with the Maine Warden Service and Maine Marine Patrol assisted state police detectives Sunday.

State police are asking to speak with anyone who might have information about the case to call them in Bangor at 973-3700.
