FARMINGTON — A service in observance of D-Day, June 6, 1944, will be held at noon Wednesday on Center Bridge on Main Street.

It will start at the Park-N-Ride near Rite Aid on Main Street and people will walk up to the center of the bridge over the Sandy River. People who plan to participate are asked to be there at 11:45 p.m.

D-Day marks the largest single-day amphibious invasion in history when nearly 160,000 troops from the American, British and Canadian forces landed along a 50-mile stretch of beaches in the Normandy region of France.
