PORTLAND — Joan F. Bailey, 74, a resident of Livermore Falls, passed away Saturday, June 2, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, following a brief illness.

She was born April 6, 1944, in Fayette, the daughter of Joel Bushie Sr. and Dorothy (Burnie) Bushie. Joan was a 1963 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. In 1969 in Fayette, she married Gerald Damren. He passed away in 2000. She worked as a nurse assistant, later at Livermore Falls Shoe and then as owner-operator of D & J Associates Trash Removal Service, until her retirement.

She was a former member of the Red Hats. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing and braiding rugs, and made a rug for many of her family members. Joan loved being out in nature, traveling and trips to the coast. But above all, she loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her companion of 10 years, Bruce Kendall, of Livermore Falls; her daughter, Angela Pomerleau, and fiancé, Ben Turcotte, of Leeds; granddaughter, Christina Damren, of Turner; grandsons Dillon and Daniel McIntosh, great-grandchildren Dakota Damren, Brianna Hallowell, Charles Damren Jr., Gregory and Bradley Damren; and two foster grandchildren; three sisters: June Glover of Augusta; Mary Walsh and husband, Gerald, of Florida; and Jean Gray and her husband, Robert Fayette; and brother-in-law, James Kennison, of Livermore.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Gerald Damren; her son, James Bushie; daughter, Joy Ackerman; grandson, Charles Damren; great-grandson; Karter Harvey; brothers John and Joel Bushie Jr.; and her sister, Jolene Kennison.
