PALM BAY, Fla. – Raymond E. Breau, 88, following a lengthy illness, passed on Thursday, June 14, in Palm Bay, Fla., in the presence of his loving family.

He was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Mexico, the son of James and Helen (Cormier) Breau. Following his graduation from Mexico High School, he embarked on a 23-year career as a machinist and chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy. Of this career he took great joy and satisfaction.

Upon retirement from the military he assumed the responsibilities of postmaster for the town of Frye until his second retirement in 1988. He then enjoyed dividing his time between Maine summers and Florida winters with his wife and family for the next 30 years. He always said that it was the best of both worlds. He was a longtime member of the Robert Shand Post 1641, VFW and Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion in Rumford. Pursuits of his youth included hunting and fishing with his brothers. In later years, trips to the casino were always an activity he looked forward to.

Ray was married for 42 years to Priscilla Turbide who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include a son, Dean Breau of Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter, Louise Blowers and her husband Wally of Lewiston; a sister, Lily Gotto of Port St Lucie, Fla.; two granddaughters, Cynthia Patterson and Catina Smallwood. He was predeceased by his brothers James, Rene, Lionel, Edward, Omer and a daughter Barbara Knipe.
