LIVERMORE FALLS — A local man hit the gas pedal instead of the brake on his vehicle, sending it into the post office building Wednesday, Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.
Don Newcomb, 70, of Livermore Falls was checked by ambulance personnel and did not appear to be injured, Steward said.
The car was destroyed, Steward said.
Bricks and a handrail were damaged, but the extent of structural damage is unknown, Steward said.
Officer Walter Bachelder is investigating.
