Thrift shop offering bag sale
LOVELL — The thrift shop at Lovell United Church of Christ will have a $2-a-bag sale on Saturdays, June 30, Monday, July 2 and Saturday to Saturday, July 7 to 14.
There will also be a bake sale when the shop is open on July 11, July 18 and 25.
Open hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
Families Belong Together Rally
FARMINGTON — Concerned community members will gather peacefully to protest the inhumane treatment of immigrants at the Mexican border from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, in front of the post office.
Attendees are encouraged to bring positive, action-oriented signs and to wear white.
Jay celebrating Independence Day
JAY — Jay will celebrate the Fourth of July on Tuesday, July 3.
All are welcome to join the parade, with line-up beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Memco. The parade will begin at 5 p.m.
There will be fireworks in the evening. A chicken barbecue will take place at the VFW Post on Jewel Street. Cost is $8. Contact 207-897-5112 for information.

Western Maine Knitting Guild to meet
PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street to carpool to Jane Williams’ camp on McWain Pond in Waterford for the annual picnic.
Those attending should bring their own sandwich and drink, something to share, and their knitting. In case of rain, the group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Haskell House for the picnic.
Members should bring any items they wish to include in the fair exhibit. The theme for this year is “Our Charity Work.” It’ll have hats, mittens, scarfs, shawls, lap robes and purple baby hats for the “Don’t Shake Jake” program. The Guild is also adding Special Olympics to its list of charities this year, so those scarfs could be displayed as well.

VFW Post to meet
PARIS — The Floyd A. Harlow Jr. VFW Post 9787 will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, at the post home, 58 East Main St.
Fourth of July celebration
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Volunteer Fire Association’s Fourth of July celebration will include a parade, pie contest, bake sale and family activities and be held Wednesday morning, July 4, at the Spurrs Corner Fire Station.
Ribbons will be awarded for pie contest and parade participants. Pies may be submitted to Spurrs Corner Fire Station by 9 a.m., and judging will take place at 9:30 a.m.
The parade will start at 10 a.m. and be followed by family activities.
Pies and other baked goods will be sold at a bake sale to help raise money for the Otisfield Fire Department. The department is seeking donations of pies and other baked goods for the sale. Call Beth at 207-627-4051 for more information.
Society planning house tour
HARRISON — The Harrison Historical Society will meet at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at the United Parish Church and leave as a group for a House Tour.
This unknown location will be a surprise, but very interesting for those attending to see the old and new renovations of this beautiful home with welcoming hosts.
AMVETS Post 777 to meet
PARIS — AMVETS Post 777, which serves the Oxford Hills, holds monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the American Legion, 12 Church Street.
