MECHANIC FALLS — Voters on Thursday passed budget articles totaling more than $400,000 that were rejected by narrow margins at the June 12 budget referendum.
Town Manager Koriene Low said she was relieved by Thursday’s votes.
The articles included the budgets for town clerk/elections, town manager, tax assessor, auditor and Androscoggin County assessment.
The articles were “critical to the town’s ability to continue to run all departments,” according to Low.
The votes were: town clerk/elections, 31-16; town manager, 30-17; assessor, 29-18; auditor, 29-18; and Androscoggin County assessment, 32-15.
The Town Council will meet Monday, Aug. 6, with Low, who is leaving as manager, and her successor, Zakk Maher, who begins his duties in August. The officials will go over the town budget and Regional School Unit 16 assessment to formulate the property tax rate.
