LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 73 board of directors voted 7-3 Thursday night to hire former Superintendent Robert Wall to fill the position temporarily.

He will start July 3 and work three days a week.

Wall, who retired as superintendent of RSU 73 four years ago, will succeed Kenneth Healey, who has taken the superintendent’s job at RSU 16 in Poland.

“Wall is experienced with the school system,” board Chairwoman Denise Rodzen said after the meeting.

Rodzen, of Livermore Falls, voted in favor, along with Phoebe Pike and Tammy Frost, both of Livermore Falls; Vice Chairman Michael Morrell and Shari Ouellette, both of Jay; Shannon McDaniel and student representative Scott Jackson, both of Livermore.

Opposed were Ann Schwab of Livermore Falls, Dale Leblanc of Jay and Stephen Langlin of Livermore.

Advertisements for the position will start next week and applications are due by Wednesday, July 18. A search committee will review the applications, conduct initial interviews and recommend three candidates to be interviewed by the board. The board will make the final decision.

The school board will meet July 26 to hear the committee’s report.
