Waterford society opening museum
WATERFORD — The Waterford Historical Society will meet on Thursday, July 12, at the Old Town House museum in Waterford Flat.
There will be an open house from 7 to 9 p.m., focusing on textiles and their makers, especially hooked and braided rugs.
The museum will open for the first time from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 4, and from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Mondays throughout July. Hours may be added in August.
A large Victorian dollhouse has been added to the museum collection.
SeniorsPlus offering caregiver training
RUMFORD — SeniorsPlus will offer Savvy Caregiver 1 training for Oxford County.
This is for those who are caring for someone with dementia and will teach how to take care of oneself and reduce stress and also communicate more easily with the person being cared for.
This is a six-week workshop, with each session lasting two hours. It will be held at 10 a.m. Thursdays, July 5 to Aug. 9, in Room No. 111 at Mountain Valley High School, 799 Hancock St.
Acoustic jam sessions Fridays
LOCKE MILLS — Acoustic jam sessions are held from 7 to 9 p.m. Fridays, July 6 to Aug. 17, at the old Greenwood Town Hall on Route 26.
Jammers can bring their fiddles, guitars, mandolins and a tune list of jigs, reels, Quebecois. The free event is also open to listeners.
Sister Bernadette Gautreau to speak
BETHEL — Sister Bernadette Gautreau will be the guest speaker at the 9 a.m. service at the Bethel United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 8, at 79 Main St.
All are welcome.
West Paris Historical Society meeting
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society’s next open house will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8.
The society will meet from 6:30 p.m. until the ice cream runs out on Monday, July 16, for dessert, fellowship and the calendar drawing.

Finnish society open houses
WEST PARIS — Finnish American Heritage Society of Maine will have its summer open houses from 2 to 5 p.m. Sundays through August except July 15.
There will be coffee, snacks and conversation in the air-conditioned meeting room. Visitors can spend time viewing the museum exhibits and take a look at the offerings in the gift shop.
Time Lab vacation bible school
FAYETTE — Fayette Baptist Church will host vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday, July 9 to 13, at 39 Baldwin Hill Road.
Children ages 4 through those entering sixth grade are all welcome to attend this program to travel through time with Jesus. The school will include games, music, teaching, science experiments, crafts and snacks.
Each family in attendance will receive the program music CD. All are welcome.

Society planning house tour
HARRISON — The Harrison Historical Society will meet at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the United Parish Church and leave as a group for a House Tour.
This unknown location will be a surprise, but very interesting for all to see the old and new renovations of this beautiful home with welcoming hosts.
