DENMARK — The Denmark Arts Center has an exciting assortment of children’s camps this summer. The Town of Denmark will support Denmark Arts Center Summer Camps with the Denmark Camp Fund for year-round Denmark families. 

Summer camps include:

Clay Camp with potter Kathy Banks: Mondays to Wednesdays, July 9 to 11 and 16 to 18. Younger children’s session will start at 9 a.m., and older children will starting at 10:30 a.m. This year, students will have their own art opening for finished pieces from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21. Clay camps create opportunities to explore texture, design and surface decorations using found objects and glazes. 

Theater Camp with Mary Bastoni: Monday to Saturday, Aug. 6 to 11. The camp will perform “The Snow Queen,” the original play on which the movie “Frozen” was based. Bastoni has directed many productions at the DAC and other theaters and directed and designed costumes for the most recently sold-out production of Disney’s “The Lion King Jr.” This week-long intensive theater program is offered to children who want to sing and act, as students will have their chance to perform “The Snow Queen” on Saturday, Aug. 11. 

Music Camp with Mountain Top Music: Monday to Thursday, Aug. 13 to 16. Students ages 7 to 11 will enjoy days packed with musical games and activities, learning rhythm and notes. Music camps gives students a chance to explore a variety of musical instruments through hands-on learning.

CIRCUS Camp with Maine Circus Academy: Monday to Friday, Aug. 20 to 24. Michael Trautman, artistic director of Maine Circus Academy and director of their Youth Performance Troupe, has more than 40 years of experience as a professional clown, mime and performer. Campers will learn fundamental circus skills including juggling, tumbling, balancing, mime, physical comedy and more. Students will learn how to create an act and have the chance to perform on the last day of camp.
