TURNER — Melanie North was recently named 2018 Adult Education teacher of the Year.
She was honored at the Maine Adult Education Association conference in June.
North has been an educator for more than 15 years and has been an instructor in the adult education program at School Administrative District 52 for the past six. She also is adult basic education coordinator, teaches English/Language Arts and coordinates the English as a Second Language Acquisition program.
Teacher of the Year Awards recognize educators who exemplify communication, collaboration and instruction based upon learner needs.
SAD 52 Adult Education Director Razell Ward said, “As our program’s (England Language Arts) and (adult basic education) coordinator, Melanie has infused the teaching of Language Arts with technology, relevant curriculum and enthusiasm.”
