HARRISON — The Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival will open its 46th season July 17 at Deertrees Theatre by remembering composers Achille-Claude Debussy of France and Gioachino Antonio Rossini of Italy.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

The festival is designed by music director and renowned pianist Mihae Lee.

The opening concert celebrates the 100th anniversary of the death of Debussy and the 150th anniversary of Rossini. The “Sonata for Strings” by 12-year-old Rossini will be followed by the “Violin Sonata” of Debussy, one of his three important late works which will be performed throughout this season.

“The Piano Quintet” by Hummel, virtuoso pianist and celebrated composer who influenced a generation of Romantic composers, was a precursor to the beloved “Trout Quintet,” which Schubert composed in Hummel’s honor. The program closes with Brahms’ “Horn Trio.”

Lee will be joined by hornist William Purvis, violinists Min-Young Kim and Keiko Tokunaga, violist Laurie Kennedy, cellist Ani Kalayjian and bassist Andrew Roitstein.
