FARMINGTON — Gregory Alan Provencher, 67, of Rumford, passed away Saturday, July 7, at Sandy River Center, due to health complications.
He was born Dec. 29, 1950, to Roland and Pauline (Hallet) Provencher. He was the youngest of eight children and graduated from Mexico High School in 1970.
On June 10, 1978, Greg married the love of his life, Teena Dostie, and together they raised two children.
Greg loved to play cribbage and just recently taught his grandson, Zachary, how to play and together they spent many hours playing while he was in the hospital. He loved to go on long country rides with his wife.
Greg enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to camp with his grandkids. He loved his Gospel music and scratch tickets. He enjoyed going to Dick’s restaurant and having coffee with the guys.
In his younger years he played softball and umpired many games. He had a kind heart and a great sense of humor. He had a great love for his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Greg was a member of the Eagles Club and in the past a Lions Club member.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Teena (Dostie) Provencher of Rumford; two daughters Monique Chagnon of Florida and Jennifer Blodgett and husband, Kelly of Rumford; a son, Corey Provencher of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Noah Lemelin of California, Russell Nixon of Temple, Kelly Blodgett Jr. of Rumford, Zachary, Garrett and Elizabeth Blodgett of Rumford and Cash Provencher of Mexico; siblings, Richard Provencher and wife, Jane of Mexico, Terry Provencher and wife, Gloria of Rumford; sisters-in-law, Marlene Provencher of Mexico and Cheri Provencher of Old Orchard Beach; sister-in-law, Linda Scott and husband, Mike of South Carolina; Hope Hughes of Lewiston; brother-in-law, Tom Dostie and wife, Irene of Lewiston; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roland Provencher and Pauline (Hallet) Provencher; three brothers, Anthony, Ronald and Dennis Provencher; two sisters, Joy Akers and Margo Alexander; three brothers-in-law, Robert, Ronnie, and Joe; and one sister-in law, Rose Hill.
