100 Years Ago: 1918
If the Maine soldiers in the various military camps are allowed to vote by Uncle Sam at the coming September election, it is not improbable that the ballots will be delivered by auto truck, in the personal charge of the State of Maine men. The idea is being considered. It, of course, depends on whether or not it will be allowed.
50 Years Ago: 1968
The city clerk’s offices in both Lewiston and Auburn were open until noon today for the convenience of voters who wished to cast absentee ballots in Monday’s primary election, and few persons in both cities took advantage of it. Lewiston City Clerk Gerald Berube reported that 15 absentee votes were cast in his office and Auburn City Clerk Leroy Linnell noted that only four persons voted absentee in the Shoe City, one for each hour his office was open.
25 Years Ago: 1993
