LEWISTON — It is with great sadness the family of Gertrude “Gigi” Dupere announces her passing after a brief illness at the age of 73. Gigi went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 14. She was born June 9, 1945, the daughter of Rose Richmond.

Gigi will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years; her daughters Lisa Bisson and husband, Ron, of Auburn; Lorraine Bowen and husband, Don, of Lewiston; and four grandchildren: Jessica Bowen, Morgan Bowen, Noah Bisson and Caleb Bisson. Gigi will also be remembered by her brother, Roger Boucher, of Old Orchard Beach; Jeannette Raymond of Lewiston; Judy Jellison and Rick of Auburn; and many cousins and close friends.

Gigi was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She married the love of the life at Sacred Heart Church in 1964. She worked for Hudson Bus Lines for 30 years as a bus aide. She truly had a gift with special-needs children and their families. Gigi spent many years volunteering for the Special Olympics of Maine. She also spent many years volunteering for the Lewiston School Department, in her daughter’s classrooms, and was known for dressing up in costumes on all holidays. She touched many people’s lives with her abundant generous nature.

Gigi lived for her family and always put their needs first. She was a devoted wife, mother, Memere and friend. Gigi would do anything for her four grandchildren. They meant the world to her and she constantly bragged about them to everyone. She went to all of their soccer games, cheering competitions, Crohn’s walks, tennis matches, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions and martial arts events and several hours supporting Caleb at the bowling alley.

Gigi traveled around the world with her husband, Lou. They have traveled Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, South America and most states in North America. They landed in the middle of the African jungle by air balloon, ziplined through the rainforest in Costa Rica, walked on the Great Wall of China, she soaked her feet in the Mediterranean Sea while in Greece, held a baby koala bear in Australia, went through the breathtaking Panama Canal and enjoyed many cruises with life long friends Yvette and Don. At the age of 70, she went skydiving with her husband, her daughter Lorraine and her two granddaughters.

Gigi loved playing cards, going to bean suppers and many casinos with life long friends Arline and Gabe. Gigi just loved people, especially babies and men. She always flirted like a young school girl or tried to set them up with someone if they were single. Gigi will ALWAYS be remembered by her sense of humor. She would spend hours remembering new jokes just to get a laugh from total strangers.

She was predeceased by her mother, Rose Richmond; in-laws Andrew and Florence Dupere; brothers-in-law Gilbert and Normand Dupere; and Aunt Pauline Beaulieu.
