FARMINGTON — Bernice A. DiSotto, 86, of Jay, passed away Friday, July 20, at Woodlands Senior Living in Farmington, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 14, 1931, in Chisholm, the daughter of Willie F. Deshaies and Emma (LaCroix) Deshaies. She attended school at St. Rose of Lima School and was a graduate of Jay High School. On Oct. 30, 1950, she married Angelo DiSotto at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He passed away Aug. 15, 1997.

Throughout the years Bernice worked at Deshaies Market which was started by her parents and was later run by her brother, Willie Deshaies. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church. Bernice was a kindhearted soul who enjoyed cooking, dancing and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Horton of Jay, her son, John DiSotto and his wife, Lyn, of Scarborough, grandchildren, Timathy Horton and his wife, Kelly, of Standish, Andrew Horton and his wife, Catherine, of Portsmouth, N.H., Anthony DiSotto and his wife, Elizabeth, of Scarborough and Deanna DiSotto Etienne and her husband, Joe, of Lewiston, great-grandchildren, William and Thomas Horton, Vera and Leo DiSotto and Quincy Etienne, sisters Mary Ann “Mimi” Nelson of Jay; and Elaine Doiron of Jay, brother-in-law, Adrice Richard of Farmington, sisters-in-law Cheryl Deshaies of Farmington and Bonnie DiSotto of Florida, special niece, Karen Bryant, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, her grandson, Ronald Horton, sisters, Wilma Roy, Pauline Richard and Jeannine Bryant, and her brother, Willie Deshaies.

The family would like to thank Woodlands and Androscoggin Hospice for their wonderful care and support of Bernice and her family.
