AUBURN — Helen (Dubish) Melledy of Monmouth and formerly of Enfield, Conn., passed away peacefully Monday, July 23, at 98, after a long decline in health.
Helen was born in Enfield, Conn., where she married Edward Melledy and raised a daughter. There, she was active in the PTA functions and church activities. She spent the summers by Cochnewagan Lake in Monmouth for many years before permanently moving to Monmouth in 1997. Once in Maine, she again devoted herself to keeping busy with fund-raising for The Theater at Monmouth, quilting, baking and other town activities. One of her proudest achievements was when The Theater of Monmouth renamed the grange hall after her for all of her time and devotion to the theater; it is now known as the Helen Melledy Hall.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie; son-in-law, Joe Saunders, of Monmouth; a granddaughter, Melanie, and Melanie’s husband, Chip Lewandowski; and a great-granddaughter, Liahna Lewandowski, of North Monmouth.
She was predeceased by her husband, and 12 siblings.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation for the care she received just prior to passing from Androscoggin Home Health and Androscoggin Hospice House.
