AUBURN — Cecile F. Poulin, 98, formerly of 401 Bartlett St., Lewiston, died Sunday, July 22, at the Sarah Frye Home in Auburn, where she had been a resident for the last four years. She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 16, 1919, the daughter of Joseph and Clarina (Roux) Frechette. One of 10 children, she is the last of that generation.

Cecile attended Lewiston schools and on July 4, 1944, she married Jean Paul “Tilou” Poulin. They spent 61 happy years together until his death in February 2005. In her younger years, she worked at Bates Mfg, and then obtained her beautician’s license and opened her own salon, Poulin’s Beauty Shop, on Bartlett Street, adjacent to her husband’s business, Poulin’s Bicycle Shop. After many years, she retired, but not for long. She missed interacting with the public and became hostess at Marois’ Restaurant on Lisbon Street. She enjoyed working for her friend Toni Orestis and loved greeting customers. She always took great pride in her appearance and was impeccably dressed. Once Marois’ closed it’s doors, she went to work at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, again as a hostess, and worked until she was in her mid-80s still wearing her signature white & pastel suits and her high-heel shoes.

Cecile was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Basilica. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with her special friends, Theresa Plourde, Rita Lepage and Yolande Bechard, who faithfully visited her every Sunday for the last four years. She always looked forward to and appreciated their visits and surely it extended her life.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Cecile was predeceased by her husband, Tilou, her two sisters, Imelda Gagnon and Lorette Sullivan; and seven brothers, Antonio Frechette, Alfred Frechette, Emile Frechette, Roland Frechette, Ernest Frechette, Willie Frechette and Adrien Frechette.

A very special thank-you to the staff at Sarah Frye Home for the wonderful care given to Cecile. The attention she received was very comforting during the last four years she lived there. It confirms that our choice of Sarah Frye was the right decision. Also Beacon Hospice showed much compassion and dedication during the last few months and we cannot thank you enough for all that you did for Cecile in her final days.
