LEWISTON — Musician Greg Boardman will perform at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. He will be accompanied by “friends” Jessie Boardman and Linda and Madeleine Vaillancourt. They will perform as a string quartet and play pieces by Purcell and Richter.

A familiar face in local music circles, Greg Boardman is the founder of the Maine Fiddle Camp and teaches orchestra to elementary and middle school students. He is also the founder of Trinity Episcopal Church’s popular series “Oasis of Music.” He plays cello, violin, viola, bass and guitar.

The Basilica’s Casavant organ, the largest church organ in the state of Maine, is the centerpiece for the annual concert series that extends through October. Local, national, and international performers visit the Basilica to perform, both on the historic organ and with other musical instruments. Diverse selections range from Bach to contemporary compositions.

The Basilica’s concert series is supported, in part, by The Saints Peter and Paul Society. Concerts are free and open to the public, and donations to the organ restoration project are welcome.
