AUBURN — Edward N. Brown, 89, of Auburn passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, Aug. 2, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Broton, CT, on March 20, 1929, a son of the late James and Pauline Brown. At a young age, Ed and his family moved to Madison, where he would continue his schooling.
In 1946, Ed joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for four years. After his discharge from the Air Force, he served in the United States Navy Reserve for two additional years.
In 1960, Ed met the love of his life, the former Geraldine Hinkley and eventually married her on July 7, 1961, in Gray. Together, they spent many wonderful years with each other and had just celebrated their 57th anniversary.
Ed will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors, which consisted of much hunting and fishing. He and Geraldine enjoyed using their camper, going all over, as well as time on their boat. He was also an excellent dancer and the two would frequently go out dancing in Jay with their friends. He will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Geraldine of Auburn, several brothers- and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his nine siblings.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and caregivers of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the devotion and care they showed Ed during his final days.
