FARMINGTON — Franklin County Animal Shelter has announced its Pets of the Week.

Dog of the Week is Chance, a 1-year-old male retriever mix. Chance is still settling into the shelter — shelter staff say he can army crawl — and is shy at first, but he loves head and rump scratches. Chance will do well in a quiet home with adults willing to give him the time to come out of his shell, free of the commotion of children.

Norbit, a 1-year-old male, is the Cat of the Week. He may never be a friendly lap cat, but his a good mouser who is entertaining to watch from afar.

Chance, Norbit and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
