BRUNSWICK — As part of Maine State Music Theatre’s 60th anniversary season, and as a thank-you to the community that has supported it, the theatre will present a free concert on the Brunswick Mall at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15.
The musical event will include members of MSMT’s current acting company, as well as invited talent from the theatre’s six decades in Brunswick, including Birdie Newman Katz, most recently in The Music Man; David Girolmo, last seen in Young Frankenstein and back this year for Singin’ in the Rain; Charis Leos, who starred in last year’s Always, Patsy Cline and Guys and Dolls, and seen in this season’s Singin’ in the Rain; Michelle Bruckner, choreographer for South Pacific and Babette in MSMT’s original Beauty and the Beast; Kate Fahrner, who starred in Newsies and will return this year for Singin’ in the Rain; Sue Cella, last seen in Fiddler on the Roof; Karen K. Edissi, also known as K.K. Preece, last seen in 42nd Street; Gillian Hassert, who starred in last year’s Grease; Curt Dale Clark, artistic director, last seen in The Music Man; and the MSMT 2018 performance interns. The performance will include a seven-piece orchestra.
The concert is funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
