NEW GLOUCESTER — Anita Lohman, 82, of New Gloucester, passed away in Lewiston on Thursday, Aug. 9.
Born in Brunswick on Sept. 11, 1935, to Alfred G. and Hazel Ellis Reeks, Anita lived in Bath until the age of 13 when the family moved to Alden, Mass. She graduated from Malden High School and attended Northeastern University.
She had been employed by H.P. Hood and Sons; Avoc. Corp. in Mass., L.L. Bean and Bates College, retiring from Bates in 1997.
Anita enjoyed raising sheep on her farm in New Gloucester. She was a quilter, knitter and enjoyed all forms of needlework, doll making, sewing, and historically accurate clothing. She did knitting for several volunteer organizations. She was an avid reader, particularly of history, and was working on the family genealogy.
Anita was predeceased by her husband, Carl, in 1989. Surviving are three sons, William of New Gloucester, Mark and wife, Chelsea, of Poland, Carl Jr., and three grandchildren, Brieann, Hayden and Benjamin Lohmann, all of New York.
