BETHEL — Bethel Area Arts & Music (BAAM) is pleased to announce its summer concert on the Bethel Common from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The afternoon is designed to celebrate music, arts and life in the Western Maine mountains. It includes three musical performances, wood-fired locally made flatbread pizzas by Farmstand Flatbreads and the BAAM Family Art Project, painting the giant BAAM letters introduced for doodling at this summer’s art fair. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair, a picnic, dancing shoes and the whole family. In case of rain, the event will move to the Bethel United Methodist Church on Main Street.

Performances:

4 to 4:30 p.m. — Maya Best. Local artist/musician from Rumford. Sultry blues and folk with guitar and harmonica.

4:30 to 5:30 — Donnie Katlin and Jewel Clark. Whether it’s old standards, folk, country, blues, classic tunes, a song or two for the kiddos, originals or even yodeling, Jewel and Donnie hope to brighten the day. Local performers, the duo is totally comfortable with spontaneity, trusting artistic license and inclined to “play from the heart.”

5:30 to 6:30 — Anna & Friends. Expect a set of funky jazz, mixed with upbeat folk tunes with reggae and other musical delights. Mostly instrumental, originals, jazz standards and cool covers.

Activities:

Family Art Project — The giant BAAM letters will be staged for painting, the doodling of them completed by children during the Bethel Art Fair. Bring the family and help. BAAM brings all the supplies.

Food — Farmstand Flatbreads for your dining pleasure. Wood-fired, locally made flatbread pizzas for dinner or to compliment your picnic!
